George Rhodes, formerly of Worcestershire County Cricket Club and Leicestershire County Cricket Club, has joined Malvern College as Cricket Professional to mentor the next generation of sportspeople.
Rhodes began his cricketing journey in the town, and progressed through the county's youth system, ultimately earning a professional cricket contract before making his debut in 2016 aged 22.
He studied sports and exercise science at the University of Worcester whilst in the academy and continues to play for Suffolk and Birmingham Premier League team Barnards Green.
George said: "As a young professional I benefitted from the use of the elite facilities at Malvern College, and now as a coach it is a privilege to have these on site.
"I feel that I have an opportunity to develop and enhance the delivery of the school’s high-quality cricket programme, which I am extremely excited about."
He added "As one of the UK’s top performing cricketing schools Malvern College has produced a number of elite cricketers that have gone on to achieve great success and I'm delighted to have the opportunity to coach the next generation of cricketing greats."
Lee Hilton, Director of Sport at the College, said: "Our pupils are in the fortunate position of being able to learn from a team of sports professionals, many of whom who come from a background of elite level sport, whether that be in the coaching or playing space.
We are delighted to welcome George to that team, who brings with him a wealth of experience through a professional career with Worcestershire CCC and Leicestershire CCC and a strong reputation in the Worcestershire pathway as one of the top young coaches in their system."
He added: "Our world-class facilities and expert coaching staff make Malvern College an exceptional environment for young sportspeople to progress across a range of sporting disciplines and we are thrilled that the next generation of elite-cricketers will be able to benefit from George’s expert coaching."
